Our sessions are designed and run by professional hockey coaches, assisted by young leaders and volunteer coaches from Spencer Junior Hockey Club and Spencer Hockey Club (SHC). Here are some of them in action.
We count ourselves incredibly fortunate to have THREE ABSOLUTELY AWESOME Spencer Lynx Ambassadors. They are all England and GB Internationals. They are: Rhys Smith - a HUGE thank you Rhys for all your support, from Day 1 of our Spencer Lynx Journey; Emily Defroand - recently retired from international hockey but still playing at the highest club level; and Darcy Bourne - a striker for the GB and England teams, and a lot of fun.
Spencer Lynx Ambassadors
Rhys is from Streatham, South London, and is the founder of Hockey Inner City. Rhys made his senior international debut in 2018, and currently plays for Wimbledon, in the England Hockey League Premier Division.
Originally from Hornchurch, Emily lives in Havering, East London. She started playing hockey at the age of 7, and made her senior international debut in 2017. Emily currently plays for Surbiton, in the England Hockey League Premier Division.
Darcy started playing hockey at the age of 10, just like our Spencer Lynx members! She captained the U16 and U18 England squads, and joined the GB and England senior teams in 2022. Darcy plays for Surbiton, in the England Hockey Premier Division.
One or more of our Charity Trustees are on hand at every training session, whether as a Manager, welcoming the children and their families, and/or as a coach. We are all volunteers, and passionate about Lynx and giving our local children opportunities to be active. We are, from the left:

Spencer Lynx Youth Council
At Spencer Lynx, we want to make sure that our Club is the best it can possibly be for all our members. So, who better to ask help us with that, but our very own members? We very much value their input.
The Youth Council is made up of 2 boys and 2 girls, and meets at least twice a season to discuss what's going on at Spencer Lynx, and in particular what everyone enjoys doing; what they would like to do more of; what they don't like as much; and any ideas or suggestions for the future.
Watch this space, for some seriously good ideas, that will help us frame the future of Spencer Lynx!
